We first became interested in Newfoundlands in 1979 and since then have been very closely involved with the breed. Over the years we have actively promoted health testing in the breed - we were the first kennel in the UK to carry out elbow scoring and amongst the first to begin echo-doppler testing of hearts as routine.
We judge the breed at Championship Show level in the UK and overseas and at Working Tests. While we enjoy showing our dogs and have done very well, with 16 UK Champions and many more gaining overseas titles, our aim for every puppy we breed is that it becomes part of a loving family. To this end, we only breed a litter when we want continue a line in the show ring. Our ‘puppy owners’ tend to be those who have waited a long time for a Sheridel puppy and with whom we build a solid friendship that lasts throughout the puppy's life - and beyond in many cases!
Like all breeders on this web site, our passion is Newfoundlands. We hope that everyone who owns a Newfie (from whichever breeder) will share that passion and enjoy being part of that very special club of 'Newfie Owners'.
We have had success in the show ring with all three colours and some good results in the working arena. We are proud to have bred the one-time Breed Record Holder of CCs, Ch. and Irish Ch. Sheridel Crawford and also the current Female Breed Record Holder of CCs, Ch. Sheridel Nerissa of Alphabear, JW ShCM (pictured above with Hedd).
Our next litter is planned for Spring/Summer 2017.
