We are a small Kennel located in Derbyshire, established in the 1980's. We have successfully bred Challenge Certificate Winners in all three colours and have had considerable success in the show ring, in recent years making up a number of Champions with Ch. Darkpeak Fallen Angel (pictured above) achieving top winning Newfoundland Bitch in the UK in 2014.
We take an active interest in the working aspects of the breed. To date our homebred Ch. Darkpeak Mystified remains the only Show Champion to achieve a Diploma in Water Work (the highest level and award in working tests) and currently Darkpeak Diamond Dust is the only Newfoundland in the UK competing in Kennel Club Rally Trials. Many Darkpeak pups have gone on to become successful working dogs with their new owners.
We have been proactive in promoting Health Testing and we were one of the first Kennels in the UK to heart test (by echo doppler) all our dogs, whether used for breeding or not!
We breed occasionally, always keeping a puppy for ourselves, and we have become firm friends with many of our puppy owners.
All Newfoundlands at Darkpeak live in the house with us and we are happy to provide help and advice to prospective puppy owners whether or not we have a litter planned.
